What To Expect

Collection

Collection is from 2pm unless otherwise agreed beforehand. If your vehicle is returning that morning this is the earliest possible collection, if it is returning the day before you can organise an earlier collection at £12 per extra hour - contact us to check.

You do not need to bring any paperwork on collection, we take all these beforehand to make the process of collection quicker. There will be hire forms and a damage report sheet to complete - we encourage people to take photos of the vehicles on collection the same as hiring a car.

On days of multiple collection there may be a short wait for your vehicle and handover or you may be allocated a slightly later collection time, this will depend on staff availability and other logistics. If you haven't heard anything you can assume 2pm is fine.

A handover is given on collection to demonstrate how everything works and a handbook is provided for each van too. The handbook has contact details in case of emergency. Breakdown cover is provided with the hire.

The vehicle will usually be given full of fuel and you are expected to return full.

You will be given some fresh water ready for your hire, we only fill to 25% -50% (25-50L) to get you started - it is advised to travel with half or less in the fresh tank due to weight restrictions and fuel economy and it's easiest to top up at the site when you arrive. If you are planning on "wild camping" then you can request we fill to 75%.

You are welcome to leave cars with us, inside the unit or outside. If leaving inside we will require a key to the car.

It's a perfect time to valet your car whilst it is with us for an extra cost, we offer 3 packages:

Bronze £40 90Min Mini Valet - Inside and outside clean and vac, dry polish, wheels cleaned.

Silver £65 3 Hour Full Valet - Mini plus glass, trims, sills, tyres dressed, seal treament and polish.

Gold £100 5 Hour "Showroom" Valet - Full plus wet vac of seats and mats or leather treatment if applicable. Exterior wax and hand/machine polish.

Cash on collection is preferred for this so please bring this along if you are wanting to take advantage.

Return

Return is 10:30, some cushion is given in the insurance running until 11am but we expect you back anytime before 10:30, a late charge of £20 per 15 mins will apply from 10:50. This is to cover our time costs and potential delay of the next hirer.

We ask you return the vehicle full of diesel (top up within 10 miles), with the toilet cassette completely empty (and rinsed) and the waste water emptied.

Please ensure the interior of the motorhome is clean and tidy upon return - especially that all glasses cups, cutlery, pans etc are clean when returning. We supply a dustpan and brush, cleaning spray and/or wipes with the vehicle so you can keep the vehicle clean.

A cleaning surcharge may be applied if the vehicle requires extra cleaning time if not returned clean and tidy.

What's included in the vehicle?

Tips & Hints

Our biggest tip would be not to try and cram in too much, if you move every night you will find you are travelling for majority of your day and it isn't very relaxing. We advise staying in one place for 2 nights or more and exploring locally to get the best experience. Add the bike rack option and take your bikes or hire bikes from us!

Book sites early to get the best sites and pitches, there are many independent sites off the beaten track so do a bit of research. If you need vehicle sizes these are available on Swift's direct site (link in our footer).

Purchase travel insurance, this is often overlooked for UK based holidays.

Don't try and go too far, the NC500 is popular but you will need at least 10 days to do this comfortably, ideally 2 weeks. Maybe try a little less the first time around if you are going for a week.

If you plan to wild camp please be aware that the sockets won't work on 12V battery power - so you lose mains power for appliances (mainly the microwave is out of action), heating, hot water and the fridge etc all work from the battery and gas. We advise being campsited every 3rd night as a minimum to recharge and refill water etc.

For those doing festivals where this can't be done we recommend adding the solar trickle charger extra to keep the battery topped up (in vehicles without a roof mounted one) and also bringing extra water carriers/bottles or we have some available to buy/hire.

General Rules & Advice

We are dog friendly in all our vans but to keep them clean we ask that dog owners bring CLEAN blankets to cover the upholstery, excess dog hair on upholstery etc requiring extra cleaning time will be chargeable please see our full terms.

If cooking it's best open windows/roofvents to vent the cooking smells and please be courteous to the next hirer by not cooking curries and strong smelling food the night before returning and leaving all cups, plates and glasses clean.

The vehicles are strictly non-smoking.

Please report all on-hire damage (internal or external) to us immediately by email with images so we can organise repair or replacement.

Call us on the office line if you need advice or help whilst on hire and have fun!
